What do you think about adding a Bidder's Privacy Option"? (please read post first)
Yes. I'd like to see this as ASAP.

No, This really wouldn't be of benefit to me.

Hey All.

What do you guys think about an option that could either be available to the seller, and/or site administrator, that would hide the current highest bidder and bid history, so the only person it would be visible to is the seller, and admin's?

I'd see a couple reasons. First, if you are selling something that you don't want others knowing you are buying, (say adult toys, xxx movies, and general stuff you'd just not like to advertise you are interested in?)

Next, because you wouldn't want others to email/pm potential bidders to place a "lower offer" (#1 the seller would miss out on potentially getting a higher bid and #2 IF you charge for people to post items for sale, you miss out on a potential item going up for auction from the person emailing the bidders)

I hope that 2nd one makes sense. Anyway, I see it as something that would be a "GOOD IDEA", but maybe worry about other critical issues first. What do you guys think?

How do I know that I have the highest bid, except via MyAuction page?

Or do you mean after the auction-time is over?

Right on the page that you bid on items, it shows the bidding history of people, and the amounts they bid. Here, you can see what I mean:

http://www.phpbb-auction.com/auction_offer_view.php?ao=6

Underneath the Seller's name (and under the pm email and feedback) you'll see a table that has the names and bids below:

4.00 EUR ( kenshin )
3.00 EUR ( KidneyBoy )
2.00 EUR ( roger )
1.00 EUR ( DtrRufy )

That's what I'm talking about.

I hope that makes sense.

Take it easy

After re-reading what you said, I think you are telling me if you took that out, then how would the bidder know that they are the highest bidder. Well in that case, just add a field that says "You are the current highest bidder" or "You Have Been Out-Bid". That way you know if you are the highest bidder or not. And of course the seller can know whose bidding on the item in his watch list (and only the seller.....and the admin)

Does that make sense?

Take it easy

well if i may point out...
I always compare to what e-bay does...

so i would vote for at least one option:

when a non registered user browses the offers.. he sees the last bidders but not the amount they bid.

--,-- ( kenshin )
--,-- ( KidneyBoy )
--,-- ( roger )
--,-- ( DtrRufy )

not everything ebay does is good..
but somehow I like the thought of it
