Great contribution. Very Happy
Thanks a lot.

Maybe we should add a poll, if this file should be included in the standard package.

I have to explain that there are some options/switches that can/must be changed in rdf_album.php.

Before you use this tool go to
Code:

// Change below to point to your rss-logo
$images = 'http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/images/logorss.gif';
//

and change the url to your own logorss.gif. If you have non create one with the dimensions 227x27, this is your logo that is displayed in any rss-reader. On my system I use a deedlink blocker so you get only a red-cross from that picture as linked from outside of my server.

By default the output is set to 25 items. You may change this value by searching
Code:

// If not set, set the output count to 25
$count = ( isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['c']) ) ? intval($HTTP_GET_VARS['c']) : 25;
$count = ( $count == 0 ) ? 25 : $count;

and change both values of 25 to any value that suit your needs.

What is your used phpBB table prefix in your database?

If other than phpBB_* search the code below within rdf_auction.php

Code:

$sql = "SELECT PK_auction_offer_id, auction_offer_title, auction_offer_text
         FROM phpbb_auction_offer
         ORDER BY PK_auction_offer_id DESC
         LIMIT $count";

and change phpbb_auction_offer to PREFIX_auction_offer. Some rows below the code shows you the given error message 'No Auctions found' so you can trace the problem simply as connection error to the database otherwise there are simply no auctions to display.

I deleted one of the posts.

The output of your rss is correct.
Now you or somebody else can grab this data and show it on his page.

rss is to show data from others websites.

There should be a bunch of information in google for it.

This works GREAT for me, but I was trying for several hours today to mod it to display the thumbnail of each offer alongside the description or on top for each item in the feed. Kinda like the way "Specials" does...

After almost killing myself I found out that the RSS spec only allows ONE picture for the entire category and NOT individual item pics. UGH!

Has ANYONE found a way around it... if so, PM me and we can share some code to make the RSS really cool. We will then post it here of course...

Steve.

It just so happens I was looking for rss feeds for another website I am working on. I -THINK- one of these had pics on each, but don't quote me. Wink

http://www.prweb.com/xml/music.xml

http://www.spin.com/news_backend.php

If they don't, hit up google for music news feed or music rss feed. ONE of those did, within the first couple of pages.

You may need to pass the href, then pick that up in the code on the other end, but I'm fairly certain that there is a way to do this. Smile

I thought it was possible too till I spent 5 hours trying to make it work and finally analyzed the specs for the RSS feeds 0.9X to 2.0 and NONE of them support more then ONE image for the thread itself. The problem is NOT getting the pics into the feed, the problem is the READER will parse the XML and not show them as they are not in the spec.
