Hi,

Have an Idea maybe it has been talked about but I couldnt find anything on this subject.

It is similiar to ebay (i think).

When a user lists an item for a large amount and it sells, they have to pay
a percentage.

ie: $1,000-2,000=1% $2,000-3,000=2%, $3,000-4,000=3% and so on

For big stuff ie: 10,000=5% ???????

Dunno just an Idea

Hello,

Well it can be made such that the admin can selectively turn on or off whether he wants just the listing fee, just charge the fee when it's sold, or a combination of the two.

How do you want to accomplish that somebody pays when their offer is sold?
The strategy is that the offer does not show up, till it paid - so everybody needs to pay to be able to sell. When they are to start their offer without paying... how do you manage the end of offer?

The only reliable way that I can see to implement this, would be to have the buyer pay the auction site, then the site pays off the seller. You could even automate the process, if the site took a set percentage for everything sold on the site. Of course, whoever was in charge of the account for the auction site would have to be certain that there were enough funds in the account to cover the largest items sold on the site.

That is too complicated.

Just collect billing information, phone, real name, address, etc. then bill all 'final sale value fees' once a month to the sellers. If they don't pay send them to collections and write it off! Or assign the debt to me and I will collect on it for you and pay you 40% of the amount collected less legal fees....

I would charge a listing fee for special listings i.e. bold titles, Featured listings and top of catagory listings and a small fee for buy-it-now listings. That way you will get a fee upfront as the admin, then when the auction sells you get a % on the backend. I would make it so that the fee range is adjustable i.e. 0-100.00 final value=$0.00 fee 101.00-500= .5%(admin to adjust) etc. etc.

This really is not unusual nor do I believe it would be hard to program into the system. Then again I know next to nothing about php or programming in general.... so I am talking out my b.u.t.t. on this. However, this is a much needed MOD and I hope that some brainy guy can figure this out!

All this would also have to be set up on secure pages as I posted in the future features forum....

PLEASE someone do this!!

@ Crogon!

On a LIVE Auction the buyer pays the fee (from 10-45% in DK) small iterms (wine) normally have a fixprice (€ 30.00-35.00/Bottel)

I would like to see this as an seller-option (Seller deside who pay the fee)
In case Buyer must pay the fee, the seller is hidden untill fee is paid, and seller cannot see who bid's

So a double-blind auction with buyer paying usery fees.

FR, we're either going to have to add all these payment options and buy bow options into the ACP, or develop seperate mods for all these requests to keep everybody happy. Confused

basically, I am the admin right?
so, you suggest that i receive a % of all your transactions on all phpbb-auction installations (which are around 6000 now).
great idea.

ROFLMAO!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

The ultimate pyramid scheme! Set it up like that one movie where you get that 1/2 cent that's left over after the percentage is subtracted! Then you could hide the code and start a bank account in the bahamas to send all of those 1/2 cent's to and make millions. ^^

We're joking folks, he knows quite well that you meant the admin for your auction site. Wink

Idea One relatively simple way to implement this on a system with user_points would be to charge the final value fee to the point system. It would then be up to the point system to manage what to do about it.

i.e. if points go negative, user can't access auction, user gets nasty email, user gets billed by IPN subscription mod, whatever... The user can earn/purchase/replenish points in whatever way the admin desires via the many possible variations of the Points/Cash Mods.

From the auction end this would require a recognized user_points mod; a means of activating final value fees (radio button, "Use FVF?"); a system of how final value fees are calculated (suggest something like "minimum sale price to charge FVF", "percentage of sale price FVF charged", "maximum/ceiling FVF"); and a function to decrement user_points by FVF.

(This would tie in nicely with the mod I proposed to allow both "real money" and user_points based listing payments to be used at the same time... Cool )

Update: I've got a mod half-done for this. It will require my Combined Payment Methods MOD if anyone wants to gear up to help test it.

Gimme a few more days to finish tinkering with it before I release a beta. Cool
