Have a look:

Edit by Nico: The pseudo cron script dont work!

Perhaps you can use (and include) it for your script, for the outbid Mails/PNs after the end of the Auction.

So anyone who has a hosted site will need to use this or what?

Some people are under the impression that all hosts allow people to implement cron jobs. got some bad news. Razz

I didn't read through the whole thing, is that just for phpbb-auction, or would that work as a fix for any phpbb mods that use cron jobs?

we really need to check the auction_cron.php file.

it can be started as cron-job (from their own server or from service-provider which offer offsite crons).
We can include a pseudo-cron code in around 2 seconds. ha - 1 second

Open auction/auction_header.php
Add include("../auction_cron.php")

Done.. Laughing

But this will slow down every page as the code below. Consider that. My server is fast (when its running Embarassed ) but others servers might become really slow.

The auction_cron.php sends pms and emails to all offers which are over or direct sold.

Auction-over - buyer:
- You have won the offer

Auction-over - sellter:
- you have sold your item
- you have not sold your item

Direct sold - seller
- you have sold your item

Yes, but with the pseudo-cron script you can make a periodical or time-controlled script execution. So you dont have any slowdowns like on this:
Code:

Open auction/auction_header.php
Add include("../auction_cron.php")

solution.

We should definitely try that code either way. Maybe we can streamline it to the auction's need and if it works - perfect.

Have a look:
Code:

Pseudo Cron Auction Add On
---------------------------------

open overll_footer.tpl
Find:
</html>

Add before
<img src="pseudo-cron-image.php" width="1" height="1" alt="" />

Upload all Files in your phpbb Root:
phpBB_root/pseudo-cron.inc.php
phpBB_root/pseudo-cron-image.php
phpBB_root/cronjobs/crontab.txt

Set cronjobs dir to 777

The script runs every 300 min the auction cron.
A log file after the first cron, will be created in the root cronjobs

Edit: Link removed. Pseudo cron script dont work.

I must be doing this wrong, I can't seem to get it to work right. Okay here's the story... I'm using EHostPros as my hosting provider and they use the CPanel system which allows you to make two cron jobs. So I set up a cron job to execute the file "public_html/forums/auction_cron.php" every five minutes of every hour of every day of every month. Then I had it send all logs obtained from the cron job to my email address. I went to check my e-mail and it sent me these errors from the cron job.

Code:
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 1: ?php: No such file or directory
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 2: /aquota.user: Permission denied
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 3: etc: command not found
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 4: etc: command not found
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 5: etc: command not found
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 6: syntax error near unexpected token `('
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 6: ` *   copyright            :   (C) FR'

I thought all of the commented stuff at the top of the script might be messing something up, so I took it out and now I get this error

Code:
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 1: ?php: No such file or directory
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 3: syntax error near unexpected token `'IN_PHPBB','
public_html/forums/auction_cron.php: line 3: `     define('IN_PHPBB', true);'

I had someone outbid me and it never e-mailed me any notice or anything so I know that it isn't working. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

You do nothing wrong, the pseudo cron skript, semms dont to work.
But for outbid u dont need the cron. See in the Configuration in the admin menu from the auction script. There u can turn on the outbid notification.

how would i go about resolving this? theres no outbid messages getting sent out at all. i started an auction and set up the cron job, i'm waiting for the auction to end tomorrow to see if it emails out the auction end notification.

He we go Smile

For the outbid messages:
Administration -> Auction -> Configuration
Then set:
PM-Notification on outbid
or
Email-Notification on outbid
on Yes
This two no need a cron.
