Hello Friends

In my views, many buyers would try to bypass our auction systems by directly contacting the seller through email/PM. To hide the email addresses of the sellers, I enabled the 'Send Email Through phpBB' option. But, still, I could not trace the conversations between the two.

Each mail sent to buyer/seller should also be forwarded to the admin so as the users who try to bypass the auctions could be disabled.

Regards

Meetul

That is not allowed in some EU contries incl. Denmark.

Email and PM is private (just for sender and reciver to read - noone els!)

I dont know if is allowed if you HIGHLIGT that the admin will get a copy of PM and email.

I for sure would not like it.

I like a system where PM and email is hidden until auction is over.

Hello

Well, the thing is just like used in baZee.com
Each email is forwarded to their customer service department. If it does not sound good, then there must be some option for something like 'Ask Seller a Question', which should be visible to all the users of the site.

Regards

See the 'Comments Section' request, and vote for it. Wink

As for getting a copy of emails, I'm sure it's illegal in most of the world, and it would discourage people from using your site. People are quite jealous of their privacy on the internet these days.

You're best solution would be to disable emails, except from the board, and filter out anyone posting *@* using the phpbb profanity filter. Of course there are a hundred ways around that, and most people know it. You would probably need to filter out "*@ *" "* @* "* AT *" and all sorts of other variations. FR - that would still filter out posting email adresses anywhere in the auction or private messages wouldn't it?

None the less, if you insisted on doing something like this, you would need to set up a repeater in your email function (whichever one your isp has enabled) to auto-send you an email every time one goes out. You might find info on how to do that on a hacking site (see HaXorZ) but I wouldn't touch the project with a ten foot pole. Shocked

A similar idea would be to use masked email addresses, like dating services do. That wouldn't be illegal, but it would allow you to prevent users form ever seeing each others email addresses.

It would however be a rather large project all on its own.

Hello Friends

Wouldn't it be great if each time one auction is created, a new phpBB Topic gets created itself and is shown on the very page of the auction under the heading of 'Product Discussions' or 'Ask Seller a Question'. This way administrators will be able to keep an eye on the conversations, seller and buyer wouldn't be able to bypass the system and moreover, buyers will be able to express their views about the product.

Please let me know how'z the idea.

Emails can easily be masked in the version 2.2 of phpBB by selecting the option - General Admin > Configuration > User email via board

Forget everything about spy on buyer and seller !!
It is not allowed in EU.

I dont see any point in creating a illigal MOD.

Disabel PM and Email between Buyer and Seller would be a nice freature + 'Ask Seller a Question', which should be visible to all the users of the site.

BTW: In the end we are talking about money.
What about a MOD like this:
a) ask seller at question via PM/Email (against Payment - questionfee)
b) ask seller a question visible at auctionsite (free)

Futhermore, if someone is so keen over loosing actionfee by directly contact between buyer and seller, it is very easy to stop it. Just make a MOD where delete an auction cost 10% on the bid/minimum $ 20.00, that is seen on other Auctions.
