Hi. Great mod! Thasnks for doing it! I just went live with it on my forum.

But, within the first 5 minutes, we already had an issue. Wink Not with the code or anything but...

I have not enabled users to be able to delete their own bids because I can see how they might influence or mess with an auction with that option. They bid $50 for something that is worth $75 then bid $100 to scare off all teh other bidders. Then they delete their $100 bid right before the auction ends and get the item for $50.

As far as I can tell, there is no record kept of deleted bids so there might not be any proof they did that if no one actually saw it.

What one user of mine suggested was a time limit on bid deletion. Give them 5 minutes (or some short time) and then the delete option is disabled for them. That would give them extra time to realize if they made a mistake but not enough time to influence an auction.

What ya think?

I don't think they should be allowed to DELETE their bid at all. Even in gaming type auctions, they get to cancel their bid, not delete it. Perhaps set up a way that an Admin could delete an incorrect bid. The five minute thing might be a good idea. To be safe, you could then say that they aren't allowed to delete their bids on the last day at all.

Basically, the ideas is to give them a very limited time to correct (cancel/delete, however) a bids that they made incorrectly. Example, they meant to bid 10.00 and bid 100.0.

I can already delete them as an admin if the user asks me too but the problem with that is, I don't want to have to manage the auctions to that level. Not only is it time consuming when there are so many active auctions with bidders running but, the more an admin intervenes, the less that they can claim they are just a 'venue' and the more they become an true auctioneer.

Well then, you give them a chance to verify their bid, and if they click 'Yes' it's their own ***. Wink

People never fail to out-stupid any system though, so I suppose you could still let them correct a bid for five minutes or so, but no corrections allowed on the last day. Smile
